No new Bungie game this year
But has "tremendous long-term potential".
Bungie's first game for new partner Activision will not see the light of day in 2011, the publisher confirmed today.
Speaking during a news-heavy investor call earlier today that saw the Guitar Hero, DJ Hero and True Crime franchises thrown to the dogs, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg promised that, though it wouldn't be out this year, the unannounced title would be worth the wait.
"Bungie is one of the world's most gifted developers with one of the best track records in the industry," he said.
"Although the title's not expected to launch this year, Bungie's new universe represents tremendous long-term potential for Activision Publishing."
Hirshberg teased that he couldn't "can't share the specifics of the game with you today" but added, "This is one of our key strategic growth initiatives and we're setting the stage for this product now."
Very little is currently known about the Halo studio's new project. However, speculation has mounted that the 10-year multi-platform deal could involve an MMO.
