Jaws: Ultimate Predator appears eerily out of the gloom later this year ready to take a bite out of the 3DS and Wii market, publisher Majesco has announced.

Due for release in the Autumn, the game is set 35 years after the events of Steven Spielberg's aquatic horror masterpiece. You'll be controlling the titular fish as it chomps its way through a gang of meddling shark hunters.

Not only that but there'll be some rival sea creatures to turn into lunch as well, including boss fights with a tiger shark, killer whale, sea serpent and Echo the Dolphin. We may have made one of those up.

As far as locations go, your shark is packing an itinerary worthy of a Beach Boys chart-topper: stop-offs include Hawaii, the Great Barrier Reef and, naturally, old-hunting ground Amity Island.

n-Space – who also currently have Heroes of Ruin on the go for Square Enix - is tackling the 3DS version, while Tectonic Studios is dealing with the Wii game.

"The Jaws movie defined a generation and forever changed our perception of sharks," commented Majesco CEO Jesse Sutton.

"Sinking your teeth in as the ultimate predator is a strong and compelling concept underlined by the performance of our best-selling Jaws console games years ago. Never before released for Nintendo platforms, Jaws: Ultimate Predator lets a new generation experience that same visceral underwater thrill."
