New Yoshi's Island announced for 3DS
Coming out at an unspecified point later this year.
Nintendo used today's Direct briefing to announce a new Yoshi's Island game for the 3DS - and it's due out at some point later this year.
It's not the first Yoshi game to be announced this year - in January Nintendo revealed that the jocular dinosaur is also heading up an all-new Wii U game called Yoshi's Yarn.
The first Yoshi's Island released in 1995 as a sequel to Super Mario World, and in the years since it's seen its own sequels, the most recent and direct being Yoshi's Island DS which released in 2006.
There wasn't much revealed on the 3DS's Yoshi's Island, though it's remarkably similar in tone, style and play to the original, with painterly backdrops and kinetic platforming.
Get a glimpse of Yoshi's Island 3DS at 14 minutes into the Nintendo Direct broadcast below.
