Miiverse, cross-platform account system headed to 3DS
Mario Party: Island Tour for 3DS dated.
Nintendo will finally implement a cross-platform account system with its upcoming update for 3DS.
The December firmware refresh will allow users to link the Nintendo Network ID they use on Wii U to their 3DS, Nintendo mentioned in its recently-finished Direct broadcast.
Initially you'll just be able to combine eShop account balances for the two systems, but "more services" will be available in the future.
The system update will also add Wii U social network Miiverse to 3DS, allowing players to discuss games with other players.
A 3DS YouTube app is on the way and is due to launch later this month, Nintendo added. A YouTube app upgrade for Wii U is also in the works.
Finally, Nintendo gave release dates for two early 2014 3DS games - Mario Party: Island Tour will launch in Europe on 17th January, while Inazuma Eleven 3: Team Ogre Attacks arrives on 14th February.
