Batman: Arkham Origins story DLC dated
UPDATE: Warner confirms - better freeze up some time in April.
UPDATE 14.14PM: Batman publisher Warner Bros. has now confirmed the below release date and given a few extra details on Cold, Cold Heart's storyline.
The "extensive" add-on will chronicle Mr. Freeze's first encounter with Batman, feature new locations including Wayne Manor, and include new gadgets - such as the Batman Extreme Environment suit, thermal gloves and Thermocharged Batarangs.
ORIGINAL STORY 08.56AM: Batman: Arkham Origins' upcoming story expansion Cold, Cold Heart will be available for download on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 22nd April, a new teaser trailer has revealed.
As previously hinted, Warner Bros. Montreal's story add-on will focus on the character of Bat villain Mr. Freeze. The trailer below shows him bursting in on Bruce Wayne at an awards ceremony.
Cold, Cold Heart is expected to weigh in at around the same size and scope as Arkham City's excellent Harley Quinn's Revenge add-on and provide a meaty chunk of extra story.
"It is in line with our angle of the origins - not necessarily of characters, but of key relationships," Batman Arkham Origins senior producer Ben Mattes told Eurogamer last year. "It is a DLC that will focus on one of the most key relationships in Batman canon."
Perhaps players will take on the role of Robin after the attack? For the moment, Warner Bros. is keeping schtum.
One things for certain, however - the DLC won't be released on Wii U. Warner refunded Wii U owners' Season Passes in January due to the "demand for DLC content on the system", or the lack of it.
Wii U players will however get to play the new HD port of Batman: Arkham Oranges' handheld spin-off, Blackgate - that launches for PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360 on 2nd April.
