Twitch and Capcom announce Street Fighter game league

Year-round tournament named Capcom Pro Tour.

Street Fighter developer Capcom has announced the Capcom Pro Tour, an annual gaming league in partnership with streaming broadcaster Twitch.

The tour will initially focus on Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition, then transition to Ultra Street Fighter 4 when it releases this summer.

10 premier events will take place throughout the year, and any player who wins one of these events will ultimately qualify for the year-end Capcom Cup. A further six places will then be offered on a points basis.

"The fighting community has always been a huge part of the world of competitive gaming, but has lacked global leagues and structure which other esports communities have benefited greatly from," said Twitch fighting game community specialist Victor 'Victheslik' Denchartphan.

"What Capcom is setting out to achieve by organising a year-long pro tour in tandem with leveraging the Twitch community is definitely going to change the face of the fighting game scene."

Matches will be streamed on the Capcom Fighers Twitch channel - there's plenty more details of when over on Capcom Pro Tour site.
