Double Fine enters the publishing realm with Escape Goat 2
Out today on PC, Mac and Linux.
Indie developer Magical Time Bean has released its puzzle-platformer sequel Escape Goat 2, the first third-party game to be published by Double Fine Productions.
The sequel has launched today for PC, Mac and Linux on Steam, GoG and the Humble Store. It will usually be priced at £7.99 / $9.99, but is on sale during its launch week for £7.19 / $8.99.
While Escape Goat 2 was actually made by Escape Goat creator Ian Stocker and Waking Mars artist Randy O'Connor, Double Fine aided production by letting Magical Time Bean use its office during the month long Indie Omega Jam. Double Fine also agreed to help promote the game via the following nifty video by the San Francisco studio.
"This has been totally awesome!" said Double Fine's senior publishing manager Greg Rice. "It's super rad to be surrounded by other independent developers who are making cool stuff and are passionate about what they are doing. I'm really glad we could help them out and hope we can do this with more developers in the future!"
Double Fine added that interested indies should e-mail the studio about getting involved with its publishing initiative at indies@doublefine.com.
