Sega lays off a "limited number" of employees in London
"This will not affect Sonic Boom development."
Sega has made a "limited number of redundancies" in its London-based office.
"Sega is in the process of consolidating certain functions of the Sonic and Mobile departments within Sega of America, where the management and production for those areas of the business reside," a Sega rep told Polygon. "As part of that strategy a limited number of redundancies have taken effect in our European office, based in London."
This follows Sega of America's restructuring last October in which a "small" number of staffers were let go.
While Sega's statement namechecked Sonic, we've since verified that the upcoming 3DS and Wii U-based Sonic Boom's development remains on course. "This will not affect Sonic Boom development," were the exact words the Sega rep told Eurogamer. However, the Japanese Sonic Team was confirmed to be working on something else, though it's unclear what that mystery project is or whether Sega's recent restructuring will affect it.
