Epic - yes, that Epic - has made a Flappy Bird clone
To show off Unreal Engine 4.
Unreal Tournament and Infinity Blade developer Epic has launched a Flappy Bird clone named Tappy Chicken.
The game is free to download from the iOS App Store and Google Play.
Tappy Chicken is the work of a single Epic employee - an artist with no programming skills - working with the company's Unreal Engine 4.
Epic has released the app to show how flexible the engine is, and how anyone can use it to make games themselves.
"Tappy Chicken is the perfect showcase for the ease of use and flexibility of Unreal Engine 4," Epic wrote.
"While it may not flex the full graphical muscle of the engine, it shows how almost anyone can make a fun and pretty game fit for mobile devices and web browsers."
A browser-based version for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera is also on the way.
The original Flappy Bird is soon to become available again, a recent report suggested, this time with multiplayer functionality.
Hundreds, if not thousands, of cloned versions are now available - even Angry Birds developer Rovio has released a version.
