Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies open beta release date announced
UPDATE: Nexon says it's not a western version of Counter-Strike Online 2.
UPDATE: Nexon has contacted Eurogamer to clarify that Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies is not a western version of Counter-Strike Online 2. Rather, it is a standalone title built separately.
In a statement, Nexon said Zombies had brand new systems which provide a different experience.
“Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies is not a direct westernized version of Counter-Strike Online 2," Nexon said. "It is in fact a standalone title built separately and featuring a different variety of all-new modes, weapons and character customisation options including zombie features. There are also brand new systems in place to reward teamwork and cooperation that will offer a diverse Counter-Strike experience.
"In short, this is a whole different Counter-Strike experience. We'll have more details to share very soon and we look forward to welcoming players to the Public Open Beta from 23rd September!”

ORIGINAL STORY: Free-to-play first-person shooter Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies goes into open beta on 23rd September 2014 via Steam.
Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies is the western version of Korean game Counter-Strike Online 2 and is made by Nexon in collaboration with Valve.
The spin-off launches here with a number of player versus player and player versus environment modes. Shelter Mode, for example, charges a team of survivors to build and defend a base against waves of zombies. Zombie Scenarios put teams up against boss fights. Other modes include Beast Mode, Bazooka Mode and, wait for it, Football Mode.
There are even modes from classic Counter-Strike, such as Bomb Defusal and Hostage Rescue. And there are classic Counter-Strike maps, too, including de_dust.
