Patrice Désilets is making a "third-person historical-action-survival game"
"AAA Games, I believe in them."
Assassin's Creed 1 & 2's creative director Patrice Désilets has announced that the debut title at Panache Digital Games, the Montréal-based studio he recently founded with Assassin's Creed producer Jean-Francois Boivin, will be a "third-person historical-action-survival game."
Désilets was mum on the details in his cryptic announcement, but he noted that it will be a "AAA" title and that he's a huge fan of big budget blockbusters.
"AAA Games, I believe in them," he said. "I believe wholeheartedly that this medium we call 'video games' can be a positive force for change in our society and that AAA quality gaming experiences have unmatched strength to achieve this. For you see, dear friends, I've always had an underlying ambition in my work: to move the world of games. It is with this motivation that I designed Assassin's Creed. I believe that, somehow, I succeeded in my mission. This gives me great motivation, ambition and heart to continue the adventure."
Earlier this year Désilets was unceremonsionuly fired from Ubisoft, where he is currently embroiled in a legal battle with the publisher over the game he'd been developing there codenamed 1666, a title he started at the now defunct THQ Montréal.
Based on his work with Assassin's Creed, Désilets certainly knows his way around a historical setting. Where and when would you like to see his next adventure set?
