Microsoft HoloLens is a new AR headset computer
Features translucent lenses and its own processors.
Microsoft has revealed a new augmented reality headset, Microsoft HoloLens.
The head-mounted computer is equipped with its own sensors and processors - so you don't need any other equipment dotted around.
Using the headset's translucent lenses you are able to view graphics overlayed on your environment.
A concept video showed off how you might chat with a colleague using a portable Skype window, or build a Minecraft layout that fitted around your living room.
Back in the real world, Microsoft demoed a simple AR app where the user is able to manipulate and build a complex 3D model in real-time.
The technology is still a work in progress, although the company stressed that it was a huge part of Microsoft's plans for the future of Windows.
HoloLens will debut "during Windows 10's lifecycle", Microsoft explained - so at some point in the next five years, perhaps?
Our man on the ground Jeffrey Matulef will be going hands-on with Microsoft HoloLens later today - stay tuned for his impressions.
