EA replaces Tiger Woods with Rory McIlroy in its next golf game
Golf without limits.
The next Tiger Woods game won't be a "Tiger Woods" game. Instead, EA has replaced its flagship golfing series' mascot with four-time Major champion Rory McIlroy.
As such, the newly dubbed EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will be launching this June on Xbox One and PS4.
We've known for a while that EA had ended its relationship with Woods, but this is the first we'd heard of his replacement.
"I'm very proud and humbled to see my face and name on EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour," said McIlroy. "This is a great honour, and something I couldn't even dream of growing up playing the sport. I really hope people enjoy the game and I'm very glad I can be a part of it."
McIlroy's debut as the face of EA's golfing franchise also marks the series' maiden entry with the Frostbite engine. As such, there will be no loading time between holes.
Advertised as "golf without limits," this upcoming entry will contain "gorgeous real-world courses and epic fantasy tracks," like one where you hit a ball over a battleship.
