PlayStation 4 passes 2m sales in UK
Faster than PS2.
PlayStation 4 has now sold more than 2m consoles in the UK.
Sony's console has been on sale less than 18 months. To put that into context, it has reached the milestone faster than the mega-selling PS2 did in its lifetime (thanks, MCV).
Unsurprisingly, the console is also the fastest-selling console of 2015 so far.
Last week, Sony's latest financial report revealed a new life-to-date PS4 sales total of 22.3m consoles sold worldwide.
That translates to around 44.6k PS4s sold per day - every day - since launch (around one every two seconds).
Sony forecasts that it will shift another 16m consoles worldwide in the next year, too.
"Reaching the milestone of two million PlayStation 4 consoles in the UK in less than 18 months is an achievement we are very proud of," PlayStation UK boss Fergal Gara said.
"To be the best selling 'next generation' console in Britain - installing faster even than the PlayStation 2 - is testament to an amazing and constantly improving product, the hard work of our trade partners and the team at PlayStation UK, and most importantly, the passion of the players. I would like to thank every one involved in helping us achieve this landmark."
