League of Legends automated reform system targets toxic players
Digs up offending chat logs, decides on ban.
League of Legends has a new player reform system that evaluates player chat logs and automatically issues bans.
The system swings into action when a troublesome player is reported for abusive chat messages.
If the complaint is found to be valid, players receive an automated message saying they've been caught being naughty.
They will also have their chat logs mailed to them - showing them exactly why they have received their comeuppance.
The system decides on the severity of a punishment, with bans ranging in length from two-weeks up to permanent blocks.
League of Legends developer Riot Games has said it will oversee the first few thousand cases when the system rolls into action in North America today.
If all goes well, the system will then be deployed worldwide without supervision.
So beware - and also, be good. In the future, Riot has said that it would like to reward well-behaved players via the same system.
