Nintendo fans think female Link is in Hyrule Warriors 3DS
The missing link found.
Nintendo fans have spotted a well-hidden hint that a female version of Link may appear in the upcoming 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors.
The hack-and-slash spin-off's original Wii U edition already features a vast range of characters from the Legend of Zelda series, but an all-new female Link - named Linkle - was previously considered for the game.
Concept artwork for her was published in Hyrule Warrior's official art book, and shows her holding a red/silver bow.
Now, the same bow has popped up hidden in the Hyule Warriors 3DS reveal trailer that leaked online yesterday (thanks, NeoGAF, via Nintendo Life).
It is just visible lying in the final character screen, in amongst all the other familiar faces.
This would be the first official appearance of a female Link, although the Hyrule Warriors game is not considered to be part of the official Zelda canon. A gender-swapped Link is a mainstay in Legend of Zelda cosplay and fanart, however.
Had she been included in the game's Wii U version, the Hyrule Warriors art book states Linkle would be explained as a "little sister-like" Link, and possibly just a sibling to the main hero.
Perhaps we'll find out more at E3 next week.
