Dynasty Warriors dev is making an Attack on Titan game
Due in 2016 for PS4, PS3 and Vita.
Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force is no stranger to making licensed spin-offs of its flagship series with the likes of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, and One Piece: Pirate Warriors. Now it's turned its attention to the popular manga and anime series Attack on Titan.
Announced today by publisher Koei Tecmo Games, Omega Force's Attack on Titan title doesn't yet have an official title, but it is confirmed for a western release in 2016 on PS4, PS3 and Vita.
"I am very happy to reveal we have started developing a new action game based on the phenomenally successful 'Attack on Titan,'" said Koei Tecmo president Hisashi Koinuma. "Having evolved from a manga/anime series to an internationally recognised brand, we were enchanted by the opportunity to create our own take on humanity's last stand against these overwhelmingly powerful beings, the Titans.
"Although there is still a long wait until this game is released in 2016, our studios are already pouring all of their passion and excitement into it and we hope to reveal more information soon."
Last year Zero Escape developer Spike Chunsoft released a 3DS game based on Attack on Titan. Entitled Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains, it was generally derided by critics. Omega Force, however, has quite the pedigree for large-scale hack-and-slash affairs. Does this mean it will fare any better? Guess we'll find out next year.
