Gabe Newell Simulator looks like an actual game that's coming out on Steam today
What next? Half-Life 3?
Gabe Newell Simulator looks set to launch on Steam as an Early Access title later today.
It's a third-person shooter in which you play as Gabe Newell, boss of Valve, who shoots aliens who invade the company's office.
The game begins with a Half-Life 3 announcement at E3, which is where all realism goes out of the window. Only joking! Half-Life 3 is definitely in development and will be announced soon.
Rival game companies, who fear bankruptcy because Half-Life 3, get together to unleash aliens upon Valve's office. It's then up to Gabe Newell, aka the player, to fight back.
Here's the official blurb:
Key Features:
- Millions of easter eggs! There are already several easter eggs in the game and finished early access there will be many more
- You can watch for hours the face of Gabe
- You can release Half Life 3
- You can eliminate forever Half Life 3
Gabe Newell Simulator is the work of an Italian called Antonio "Exinot" Renna, and it looks like his first game to launch on Steam. In the video, below, he plays the first level of the game. It looks... awful.
You'd think Gabe Newell Simulator would break all sorts of Steam rules, but the game passed through Valve's Greenlight process unscathed, garnered enough votes to be noticed by the company, and someone somewhere there authorised it for release.
Posting yesterday in Gabe Newell Simulator's Steam discussion group, Exinot said:
"Don't worry, I have the written permission of Gabe Newell, otherwise I would not have even been able to publish ;)"
So yeah, this looks like a thing that's going to happen.
Gabe Newell Simulator unlocks around 5pm UK time. Perhaps that's when Valve will announce Half-Life 3.
