Respawn announces new Titanfall game
But...
Respawn has announced a new Titanfall game for smartphones.
The mech shooter franchise will be reborn on iOS and Android devices next year in collaboration with free-to-play game company Nexon (thanks, Gamasutra).
Mobile developer Particle City - a studio co-founded by Respawn boss Vince Zampella - will develop the new game.
"Nexon's unrivalled publishing network and free-to-play expertise will allow Titanfall to reach new global audiences," Zampella stated.
Titanfall launched last year for Xbox One, PC and Xbox 360 to generally positive reviews, although its lack of campaign was criticised.
You can now pick up Titanfall and all of its expansions via the Xbox Games Store or Origin for cheap after all of the game's expansions were made free.
Respawn has said more than once that it still has big plans for the series as a whole and that a proper Titanfall sequel, when announced, will not be a console exclusive.
News of a Titanfall spin-off for mobile devices next year may mean that 2016 will see the franchise's return to PC and consoles as well.
