Hand of Fate 2 announced for PC, Mac and Linux

Coming next year.

Card combat game and third-person action brawler hybrid Hand of Fate is getting a sequel next year for PC, Mac and Linux.

Like the first Hand of Fate, players will compete against an ominous dealer through a mix of card-based combat and third-person real-time fisticuffs. Storywise, you'll play as a new heroine 100 years after the events of the original game, and that title's protagonist will now serve as the antagonist for this one.

Hand of Fate 2 will expand upon the original game by offering a map-based meta-game along with companions for adventures. These supporting characters can back players up in combat, offer new options in the game's RPG portions, and include their own storylines.

This sequel will introduce more complex win conditions than simply making it to the end of the dealer's deck or defeating all enemies. Examples given include surviving a 10-level descent, saving up enough gold, or defending a goblin from attackers for a set period of time.

There will be more combat and equipment features this time out, with options for two-handing large weapons or dual-wielding smaller ones.

"Hand of Fate demanded players prepare themselves for any possible outcome with each overturned card," said Defiant Development director Morgan Jaffit. "With the new mechanics we've added into Hand of Fate 2, even players who mastered the first game will once again be challenged by the luck of the draw."

The original Hand of Fate was downloaded more than 1.9m times between its PC, Mac, Linux, PS4 and Xbox One versions.
