Blindfolded man sets new Super Mario World record
Races through game in 17 minutes and 46 seconds.
Last year speedrunner PangaeaPanga conquered Super Mario World while wearing a blindfold through the entire game. He blazed through it in an impressive 23 minutes and 14 seconds too.
Now Japanese pro player Hup Chapter has bested this record by several minutes, performing the same seemingly impossible feat in an impressive 17 minutes and 46 seconds.
Hup Chapter noted on YouTube that he was playing this on the Wii U's Virtual Console using a Wii U Pro Controller. He also credited PangaeaPanga for forging the path to success here.
The blindfolded runner does meet his maker a couple of times, so there's still room for improvement, but it's still a blast to watch all the same.
This isn't the only really impressive blindfolded run we've seen as of late. Just last week romscout bested Castlevania: Symphony of the Night without ever looking at the screen and last year Jack Wedge knocked out the titular boss of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! under the same condition.
