Allison Road is back in development
First-person horror game resurrected after publisher pulled out.
First-person horror game Allison Road was officially cancelled back in June after developer Lilith and publisher Team17 parted ways, but now the developer has announced that the project is back from the dead and moving forward.
Allison Road creator Christian Kesler confirmed to IGN that the project will continue under the new studio Far From Home, which Kesler has kicked off with his wife.
"I'm actually really happy to be able to announce that [Allison Road] will continue," Kesler told IGN. "We had a lot of support online and some folks out there are just incredibly nice."
He's not wrong, as Allison Road was doing decently on Kickstarter before Kesler cancelled the crowdfunding campaign to partner with Team17. At the time, Allison Road had raised £145,959, though it's uncertain if it would have made its £250k goal in another nine days.
Kesler noted that Allison Road began as a solo project and that he was single-handedly responsible for its impressive prototype (seen below), which he launched last June after nine months of development.
"For our gameplay trailer, I did all the modeling, texturing, shaders, lighting, etc., and thankfully a lot of the mechanics are already implemented from the previous development phase, so I can comfortably take the game forward by myself," Kesler told IGN. "If and when it comes to a point where new features and mechanics are required, or old ones need changing, I'll go look for support."
