New Zelda 30th anniversary amiibo will work with Breath of the Wild
Also out now - Skyward Sword on Wii U, new Hyrule Warriors DLC.
Four amiibo figures based on classic Legend of Zelda games to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary are on the way.
Similar to Super Mario's 30th anniversary amiibo, the headliner is a 3D version of 8-bit Link from the NES original. Another is based on Ocarina of Time's Link, and the final two are Toon Link and Toon Zelda from The Wind Waker. All four will be released on December 2nd.
All four will work the same as existing Link, Toon Link and Zelda amiibo figures from the Super Smash Bros Collection, and join this year's Twilight Princess HD amiibo in offering undisclosed "special functionality" with the next Zelda game, Breath of the Wild, when it comes to Wii U and NX next year.
As well as the new amiibo figures, Nintendo also announced new Hyrule Warriors Legend DLC based on DS adventures Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, with a new Toon Zelda character and Sand Wand weapon for Toon Link, alongside 15 new My Fairy costume pieces and a new Adventure Mode map. You can see it in action with the trailer below.
Also announced by Nintendo is an eShop version of Wii adventure Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which will be available for purchase in Europe and North America later today.
