Mass Effect Andromeda trailer reveals new alien baddie
UPDATED: Loyalty missions return, Ryder siblings and asari named.
BioWare has kicked off this year's Mass Effect N7 Day celebrations with a new Andromeda cinematic trailer, and detail on the game's two sibling stars.
There's actually little new in the trailer we haven't seen before - alien worlds, a big space worm, a slightly clearer look at your salarian crew member.
Perhaps the biggest reveal is a look at Andromeda's new baddie race - from previous leaks, these would be named the Khet, or Kett.
Players can pick either Sarah or Scott Ryder to play as. Your father, who has appeared in an earlier trailer as a suited N7 character, is Alec Ryder - voiced as many fans had suspected from the brief teaser the other day by Clancy Brown.
Sarah and Scott's voice actors are relative unknowns Fryda Wolff and Tom Taylorson. Fun fact - both provided voices for Octodad.
This extra detail on characters comes from Game Informer, which has also got confirmation on the return of loyalty missions for your squadmates. Complete these and they will grow closer to you, just as in Mass Effect 2.
Strangely, these missions will be optional, however.
"The big difference between this and ME2, where you did a loyalty mission and that all impacted the ending, is that they're much more optional in this case," Mass Effect Mac Walters said. "If you don't want to engage with them, you don't have to. If you want engage with them after the critical path is done, you can do that."
On Twitter, Mass Effect producer Mike Gamble has confirmed the name of your asari squadmate seen in trailers as Peebee.
A full gameplay reveal will come next month, as part of the Video Game Awards on Thursday 1st December (early in the morning on the 2nd UK time).
