Zelda: Breath of the Wild's first DLC detailed
Trials! Map tracking! Tingle armour! And more.
Nintendo has detailed the first slice of extra content coming to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild this summer, as part of the game's Expansion Pass.
"DLC 1" add will new features, handy extras and a selection of new armour. Here's what you get:
Trial of the Sword is Zelda's traditional Cave of Trials, but with a twist. Here, you'll start without weapons or armour - a level playing field. 45 rooms of enemies later you'll get a permanent strength upgrade to the Master Sword, making it always powered-up and glowing.
Hero's Path is a new map feature which will let you see your path around the game's map - handy for identifying areas you may have missed. Impressively, it tracks your last 200 hours. Nintendo must have been prepping for this addition all along.
The other big addition is a Hard Mode, where enemies will slowly regenerate health and be powered up by one level (red bokoblins now blue, blue now black, etc.) Extra enemy difficulties are included, but you'll also be rewarded by hidden treasures floating in the sky.
Other new additions include the Travel Medallion, used to register a fast travel point in the world so you can come and go and not rely on a Shrine to warp.
The Korok Mask, meanwhile, will vibrate whenever a hidden Korok is nearby.
Both the Travel Medallion and Korok mask will be found in unidentified chests somewhere in the world - so when the DLC goes live there will likely be a scramble to find them. So too, the new armour items themed around Majora's Mask, Midna's Helmet, Phantom Armour and Tingle's Outfit. These don't give any extra abilities, but they do look rather cool.
