Super Bomberman R comes to Xbox One in June

UPDATE: Also heading to PS4 and PC.

Update, 15/3/2018: Konami has finally made Super Bomberman R's multi-platform launch official; it'll be heading to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 14th, with a Steam version due to arrive a day earlier on June 13th.

In addition to the features and pre-order bonuses reported in the original story below, the Xbox One, PS4, and Steam versions each include a format-exclusive Bomberman.

PS4 gets a Ratchet & Clank inspired Bomberman, Xbox One receives the Master Chief Bomber, and there's a unique Bomber themed around Portal 2's P-Body for Steam:

Original story, 14/3/2018: Konami's previously Switch exclusive Super Bomberman R is heading to Xbox One on June 14th, according to a new listing on the Xbox Games Store.

Super Bomberman R's Xbox One outing looks to be identical to the Switch version in terms of features, and will include the series' classic multiplayer Battle Mode - with local support for up to 8 people and online play for between 2 and 4 players - as well as a fully featured story campaign that can be played co-operatively with a friend in tow.

The Xbox One version will also include the competitive, team-based Grand Prix mode which launched on Switch in a free update late last year. And to sweeten the deal further, those that pre-order the game will receive Golden Vic Viper and eight Shiny Bomberman Brothers as bonus playable characters.

At launch, Super Bomberman R on Switch was an enjoyable, if slight and technically lacking, experience. Martin Robinson called it, "a gentle throwback to simpler times, and a welcome revival for a local multiplayer classic", albeit one with "weak online and a premium price".

Much to everyone's surprise, however, Konami continued to support and update the title long after launch, improving its problematic online performance and sluggish framerate, as well as adding a raft of new stages, modes, cosmetics, and characters - including Bombermen inspired by classic Konami franchises such as Silent Hill and Castlevania.

Now, it's a considerably stronger proposition on Switch, and even more of a hoot during local competitive play. As such, Super Bomberman R might be worth investigating further when it releases on Xbox One this June.
