Nearly 1 million copies of Aion shifted
In North America and Europe alone.
NCsoft has announced that nearly a million copies of PC MMO Aion: The Tower of Eternity have been sold in the West.
Over 500,000 units have been shifted in North America, while the figure for Europe stands at around 470,000 units. The game was released in the West during the last week of September.
Aion's popularity has given NCsoft's profits a boost - revenues for the most recent quarter were up by 112 per cent to reach $142 million, according to Gamespot. Net income during July to September rose by 836 per cent to hit $40 million.
NCsoft's games are still selling best in the company's home country of Korea, where 48 per cent of revenues were racked up. North America, Japan, Europe and Taiwan made up the difference.
Aion accounted for 52 per cent of global sales, while Lineage 2 was in second place on 24 per cent and the first Lineage provided 16 per cent. City of Heroes and Guild Wars only managed 4 per cent and 3 per cent each.
