25 minutes of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided gameplay
We definitely asked for this.
Square Enix has released a video of action role-playing game Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, showing off a solid chunk of gameplay (warning, there's a potential spoiler scene from 18.25 to 22.20).
The video, below, is of the game's E3 2015 demo, and, as developer Eidos Montreal points out, is alpha code, with Adam Jensen's energy, life and ammo set to infinite.
It opens with an extended cut-scene, but soon switches to gameplay. We see Jensen infiltrate a heavily-guarded base on his way to interrogate a target.
Jensen has a raft of new augmentations. One is the non-lethal Tesla Gun-arm, which can target up to four enemies at the same time. We also see the new Icarus Dash, which lets Adam reach new areas and knock down enemies.
Jensen has new abilities that help with stealth, including EMP ammunition - Mankind Divided supports different ammunition types (we later see armour-piercing rounds used to take out a turret). Eidos Montreal says you can finish the game without killing anyone, if you choose.
Elsewhere, we see remote hacking, the new Nano Blade, which can be used to stick NPCs to walls, and the hacking 2.0 mini-game. And, of course, there are vents for Jensen to crawl through.
For combat, Jensen can use the new Titan Shield, which turns him, momentarily, into a human tank. The new Focus Mode slows the game down, making for some eye-catching kills.
The video ends with a social boss encounter. You may wish to skip this if you want to stay spoiler free.
THERE MAY BE SPOILERS AHEAD.
Here we see Jensen in a conversation encounter - a debate about the rights of downtrodden "augs" and the consequences of Jensen's actions in completing his mission. This conversation can be won or lost, based on the dialogue chosen. In the gameplay video, Jensen loses the encounter, and so his escape from the area is much harder than it would have been if he'd won.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is looking pretty impressive at this stage. One to watch. It's out next year on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
