343 Industries is stepping up its recruitment for a brand new Halo game.

A number of jobs have recently been advertised on the official site.

343 want a mission designer, a senior 3D artist and a senior character artist, among others.

It's all about "our next big project", say the job specs.

"343 Industries is forging the future of Halo," says the site, "expanding and building upon one of the most important and successful franchises in gaming history.

"Halo is a rich and exciting universe that encompasses AAA video games, New York Times best-selling novels, world-class animation and much, much more. Just you wait. 343 is set to revolutionize gaming and entertainment by putting the industry's fiercest talent in one room and diving for cover. Come be part of the awesome."

343 Industries - Microsoft's internal division responsible for making Halo the biggest thing since, well, Halo - has spent the year since its inception creating anime, comic books and novels based on the science-fiction universe.

Work on this big project is clearly at an early stage, so we don't expect to hear anything about it for a while yet. Let's imagine, though, that it's Halo 4. That'll be fun.

Still, we've got Halo: Reach, due out on 14th September, to look forward to. For more on Bungie's Halo swansong, head over to our Halo: Reach game page.
