Actor blames gamers for rubbish movies
Billy Bob Thornton loses a few fans.
Actor Billy Bob Thornton has blamed gamers for the sorry state of Hollywood's current output.
The former Mr Angelina Jolie and Armageddon star told The Telegraph, "We're living in a time when we're making - in my humble opinion - the worst movies in history.
"They're geared toward the videogame-playing generation. And these videogames, which I'm on my son about constantly, these games are people killing for fun, and I think traditionally in movies, there's always been some kind of lesson in the violent movies."
Thornton claimed his next effort, Faster, which sees The Rock embark on a brutal killing spree, is a case in point.
"This movie doesn't say, 'Oh, here's this fun guy and we're going to do this tongue-in-cheek character right out of a videogame who likes to destroy things' and all this kind of thing.
"This movie actually shows what prisons create, what murder creates. It shows this perpetual, violent string of events."
Clearly the words of a man who has played a lot of videogames. You can find out for yourself what he's banging on about when the movie hits cinemas later this year.
