Aliens: Infestation is DS side-scroller
Has chest-bursting, brief male nudity.
Unannounced sci-fi action game Aliens: Infestation is a side-scrolling platformer for the DS, a new ESRB rating has revealed.
Players control a marine squad on a mission to destroy Ridley Scott's pesky alien plague. According to the new ratings board entry (spotted by Siliconera) gamers get an arsenal of pistols, flamethrowers and explosives to accomplish the job.
A similar leak by the ESRB's Aussie equivalent last month previously outed the game's existence. It's developed by side-scrolling specialists Wayforward Technologies (Contra 4 and A Boy & His Blob).
What else can gamers expect? There's brief male nudity and the film series' iconic chest-bursting, warns the ESRB:
"The frenetic battles are highlighted by realistic gunfire, explosions, and cries of pain; injured aliens emit green splashes of blood before collapsing to the ground. Some sequences also depict red blood spurts when human characters are killed (e.g., an alien bursting out of a man’s chest; characters getting bitten by aliens). During the course of the game, players can enter a locker room and see a male character whose buttocks are briefly exposed. The words 'a*s,' 'bastard,' and 'hell' appear in the dialogue."
Sega is yet to announce the title, which appears to be a reincarnation of the long-dead Aliens: Colonial Marines DS spin-off, cancelled in 2009.
Duke Nukem Forever developer Gearbox Software is currently working on Aliens: Colonial Marines for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, scheduled for release during Spring next year.
Sega refused to comment when contacted by Eurogamer this morning.
