Angry Birds Space's Red Planet update is now live
Guest starring the Curiosity rover as itself.
Angry Birds developer Rovio along with actual rocket scientists NASA have combined forces to bring a Mars-themed update to our cosmic flying fowl.
The expansion sees the nefarious pigs hijacking the Mars Curiosity rover to use its insane technology to scour for eggs. Clearly they must be stopped.
The update adds 20 new levels and an all new astronauts pig, Rovio has announced. Additionally, finding three hidden rovers and landers will open special bonus levels where players can discover more about the NASA missions.
"Rovio is teaching huge new audiences about NASA's missions to Mars thanks to this collaboration," said associate administrator for communications at NASA, David Weaver, on NASA's official site. "It's a great way to introduce both kids and adults to the wonders of the planet in a fun and entertaining way."
"We're huge NASA fans, and we were all cheering the Mars Curiosity rover as it touched down," said chief marketing officer of Rovio Entertainment, Peter Vesterbacka. "Working together on the Mars update was a perfect fit, especially since we got such an amazing response to our previous collaboration, the 'Angry Birds Space: NASA announcement' video, which quickly surged to the top of 2012's viral video charts."
