NTLWorld free ISP update
A few months ago British cable TV operator NTL announced they would be introducing a completely free ISP - no monthly charges, and a free-phone number to dial into. Today I received another e-mail from the company explaining the continued delay in getting me and thousands of other people around the country on to the service after we signed up for it months ago.
"We continue to have some areas of the country, such as yours, where we need to increase our network capacity still further in order to make ntlworld available to absolutely everyone who has expressed an interest", the e-mail states. "We continue to send out up to 100,000 registration discs each month and are committed to bringing a truly free and high quality internet service to you and everyone in the UK who wants it."
Apparently they should have my account ready for me by the end of August at the latest, and "network upgrades we are delivering now and over the coming weeks make me very hopeful that we will bring this date forward". Read the e-mail for the full story. Of course, last summer my area (Leicestershire) was supposedly just a few months from having cable modems through NTL, and yet today there is still no sign of them. So, I guess we'll just wait and see...
