Star Wars : The Ancient Menace?

Lucas Arts have announced that they will be publishing a role-playing game based on the franchise to end all franchises, "Star Wars". To be developed by BioWare, the brains behind Baldur's Gate and the forthcoming Neverwinter Nights, the game will be set four thousand years before the Star Wars we all know and love, focusing on an ancient conflict between the Jedi knights and the evil Sith lords.

Because of this, although there should be much talk of "disturbances in the force" and "the dark side", the new game will be set in an entirely new period that hasn't been explored in previous Star Wars movies, books and computer games. The only bad news is that the game won't be released until 2002, by which time we should all be anxiously awaiting the release of "Star Wars : Episode 3" and the long overdue arrival of the cult movie series on DVD...
