Sold Out's magnificent seven
Well, some are genuinely magnificent at a fiver a shot
Sold Out has confirmed its plans for November, with seven new titles to go on sale for £4.99, most of which we'd struggle to find anything wrong with. Carmageddon 2 will lead the way as previously announced, but it will also be joined by Codemasters' Colin McRae Rally 2.0. With the sequel just around the hairpin, more than anything this gives rally virgins the opportunity to see how she moves.
Ultra-violence is another serious theme in Sold Out's November schedule, as evidenced by the presence of Kingpin, Gunman Chronicles, Severance and Worms Armageddon. Kingpin: Life of Crime was a wonderfully ornate gangster action game created by the team that would go on to make Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and Gunman Chronicles and Severance were slightly less impressive but nevertheless enjoyable action titles. Worms Armageddon is the last-but-one in a seemingly unending line of turn-based bazooka-fests - if you don't own a Worms game, this one makes a compelling argument at five quid.
Rounding off the magnificent seven is... something odd. Just Play's Sea Monkeys is, quite frankly, a game we've never heard of, but we're told that it's an often hilarious simulation of the popular micro-crustacean 'pets'. Sounds intriguing. Intriguing enough to waste a fiver on? That's up to you.
