Xbox pulling ahead of GameCube in UK
And PS2 close to three million units
While sales of the PS2 continues to thrash everything out of sight, the battle for second place is where the real action is, with Microsoft forging ahead of Nintendo in the latest figures released.
Largely thanks to the Sega value bundle, Xbox sales for the week ending November 3rd soared by some 42 per cent to 10,371, according to ChartTrack figures.
GameCube sales rose by a mere 15 per cent, to 6,657, a platform that hasn't been helped lately by a dearth of 'must have' exclusive titles.
UK installed base figures for the two consoles also makes for interesting reading: Xbox has overtaken GameCube in the past week, with a ChartTrack figure of 233,503 for Xbox versus 230,876.
These figures are thought to represent between 70 and 80 per cent of 'real' sales of the machine in the UK, due to the ChartTrack panel not accounting for all retailers.
Meanwhile, with the PS2 set to top the three million mark any day now, we suspect that a certain driving game set in mid '80s Miami out tomorrow might help…
