Having purchased Rainbow Studios several months ago now, we've been quietly expecting to hear something of the developer's plans, and in a typically brisk press release this week, THQ has confirmed that the Phoenix, Arizona-based developer is working on a follow-up to Splashdown.

Splashdown was a reasonable success on PS2 and later Xbox, and was championed for its extremely lifelike water and wave effects. Other additions include indoor stadium courses, a Freestyle stunt mode, "technical time trials" ... "and more".

Splashdown 2 is expected in summer 2003, although in the absence of any screenshots or platform information, we'd wager that it's liable to slip.
