What's New?

Golly. What a splendid day to be out. On a typical morning stroll to the newsagent you can look forward to being pelted with snowballs by subhuman bands of skateboard-owning-but-not-riding ingrates, falling flat on your arse thanks to a patch of black ice and freezing your nuts off. Sorry, what was so great about the snow again?

It sounds like a far, far better idea to us to settle down in the warmth of your living room with a good game. Which is why it's a shame the pickings are once again slimmer than Tony Blair's 'evidence' docket.

PC fans actually enjoy the most new titles this week. Um, three. It's difficult to say which of them heads up the pack, but our gut feeling is that Alex Ferguson's Player Manager 2003 is probably a bit more passable than Monster Jam - Maximum Destruction (also out on PS2) or the critically ostracised Tennis Masters Series.

Once again it's the PS2 which 'wins' - its solitary, short term exclusive being EA's The Sims, which, far from merely filling the hours, had us glued to our seats for quite some time as we pampered and then destroyed. Searching for that first kiss? We hope not, but if you are then you can get some practise in here...

Elsewhere even the bottom of the barrel is looking like the arrivals lounge at Baghdad International, with the PSone's Jinx leaping around, bells ringing gaily at the prospect of finding a new home. Well it ain't going to happen, son! Get back down there!
