Codies sign John Virgo

Big Break star to head up Trickshots section

Codemasters has signed snooker celeb John Virgo to host a 'Trickshots' game mode in World Championship Snooker 3 for PS2, Xbox and PC. Virgo is most famous in the UK for his role alongside Jim Davidson in the BBC's snooker based game show Big Break, and rumour has it the Xbox version will afford 64 megs of texture memory to his waistcoats alone.

As veterans of the once proud Virtual Pool series will know, trick shots are by far the most fun you can have with a pool/snooker cue, and WCS 2003 will aim to capitalise on this, with more than 20 challenges that have to be completed sequentially (lest Virgo show you the door). Among the shots will be Back to Black, Mighty Red, Caterpillar, Leap of Faith and Impossiball - none of which are explained, but if you happen to watch a lot of UK Gold then you might be able to spot some of them in action on Big Break re-runs...

Meanwhile, Virgo will also lend his talents for snooker commentary in the main game mode when WCS 2003 is released this April, just ahead of the tournament of the same name. Say good night JV...
