PopTop Software and developer Frog City Software have announced that Tropico 2: Pirate Cove is gold. The game is the sequel to Tropico (obviously), a game which we lapped up like seadogs a couple of years ago. We seem to end up explaining what it is every time we write about it, so we're not going to do that this time. No. You can just read this instead. There's a demo through that link too, so you probably want to go and look.

"The original Tropico received worldwide acclaim when it hit store shelves in 2001," said bored-sounding Gathering president Kelly Sumner." We wanted to preserve the light tone of the original, and found that the pirate theme in Tropico 2: Pirate Cove allowed us to do just that. Pirate Cove retains the tongue-in-cheek humor and island setting of the original, while providing compelling new gameplay."

Troico 2 is allegedly due out on April 18th.
