Angry God of War star Kratos will be a playable character in upcoming gory fighting game Mortal Kombat.

That's according to the January issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine (reported by StickSkills).

Kratos will have his own fatalities, combat moves and God of War themed arena, the report claims.

Kratos won't, however, turn up in the game's story mode, but, let's be honest, who plays fighting games for the story?

If the PlayStation 3 version of Mortal Kombat features Kratos, which Microsoft starlet will turn up in the Xbox 360 version? Master Chief? Marcus Fenix? The tiger from Kinectimals? Peter Molyneux? Or, god forbid... Alan Wake?

Meanwhile, reports are coming in that the game's playable roster was inadvertently leaked by developer NetherRealm's official website.

Sound files that act as introductions to unannounced characters were picked up by a forum user at TRMK, and appear to confirm that Ermac, Goro, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Kabal, Smoke, Stryker, Sektor, Noob Saibot and Sindel are playable characters.

Announced characters include Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena, Shao Kahn and Raiden.

The sound files also suggest Test Your Might and Brutalities – classic Mortal Kombat features – will return.
