There will be an official convention for indie PC sensation Minecraft in Las Vegas on 18th and 19th November.

Minecraft maker Markus Persson announced the event to PC Gamer.

"For me, MineCon is about celebrating the full release of Minecraft," Persson told PC Gamer. "I'm really looking forward to getting up on stage and pushing the button to upload the final build."

Persson's comments suggest Minecraft will launch a week later than originally intended, on 11th November.

Minecraft has now passed the 10 million registered user mark. Other colossal PC games with their own conventions include Blizzard's flock - World of Warcraft, StarCraft II and soon Diablo III - RuneScape, and Sony Online Entertainment's games.

This September also marks the inaugural Call of Duty XP convention.
