God of War series has sold over 21 million copies

The God of War series has sold over 21 million copies, Sony has announced.
An update on the Sony Computer Entertainment Japan website shows some impressive figures for the gory action franchise, as of 30th May 2012. The first God of War game launched on PlayStation 2 seven years ago.
21,650,595 Gears of War games have been sold, to be exact. The best-selling game in the series is PlayStation 3 game God of War 3, which has sold over five million worldwide.
Usefully, Sony broke the numbers down by region, too. God of War has sold most in the Sony Computer Entertainment America regions, and least in the Sony Computer Entertainment Japan regions.
Sony Santa Monica Studio senior director of product development Shannon Studstill said: "We at Sony Santa Monica Studios thrive on delivering fantastic gaming experiences to the community and to our fans across the world. We are extremely proud to have hit this incredible milestone, and owe a large part of it to our fans for all of their support throughout these years."
