FIFA 14 on PS4 and Xbox One uses the fancy new Ignite Engine - but the PC version doesn't

Balls.

FIFA 14 on PS4 and Xbox One uses the fancy new Ignite Engine - but the PC version doesn't, EA has confirmed.

"Clarification for the PC related questions earlier," wrote FIFA community manager Rob Hodson on Twitter. "EA Sports Ignite will power FIFA 14 on Xbox One and PS4, not PC."

No explanation was offered.

The news is sure to disappoint those who play the superb football sim on PC - although it may not come as a surprise. For a number of years the PC version of the massive-selling series lacked the features found in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version, although parity was achieved with FIFA 12.

During Microsoft's Xbox Home event EA executive Andrew Wilson said Ignite will improve FIFA - and other EA Sports titles - in a number of important ways, including giving players "human-like intelligence", "ten times greater animation fidelity" and more accurate environments.

Sadly, it seems the PC version of FIFA 14 will not benefit from any of that.

Last month EA announced FIFA 14 for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. We now know it will come out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One - but not Wii U.
