Ex-Snatcher devs announce Kickstarter for steampunk London adventure Blackmore
!
Some of the people who worked on Snatcher have announced a Kickstarter for an adventure game set in a steampunk Victorian-era London.
Snatcher is the cyberpunk adventure series designed by Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima. Hideo Kojima isn't working on this new game, but some of those who worked with him on Snatcher are.
Blackmore sees Emma Blackmore and her gadget-dog Descartes track down a serial killer in East London. It's directed by Jeremy Blaustein, veteran Japanese translator and video game localisation expert who worked on the English versions of Snatcher, Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill, among other games.
He's enlisted the help of fellow ex-Konami developers, including character designer Satoshi Yoshioka, who worked on Snatcher and Policenauts, and composer Motoaki Furukawa, who also worked on Snatcher.
Blaustein says Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter is on board to play Jonas Blackmore, the "emotional and brooding young head of the Blackmore family". Jeff Lupetin, the voice of Gillian Seed in Snatcher, has also signed on.
The Kickstarter asks for $200,000. If it's successful, Blackmore will be released on PC and Mac in the spring of 2015. There's no prototype or gameplay footage yet.
