Pokémon Sun and Moon trademarks pop up a day before Nintendo Direct

UPDATE 2.50pm: Nintendo has now confirmed the existence of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, after their trademarks and logos leaked online just an hour ago.

As expected, we'll see the games unveiled fully in Nintendo's Pokémon Direct tomorrow - 3pm, UK time.

UPDATE 2.00pm: Logos and trademarks for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon have been spotted online.

Their appearance on the EU trademark website comes just a before a special Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct is scheduled to take place.

Nintendo announced the Pokémon Direct yesterday via Twitter, and promised news that would celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary - due to take place this year.

The broadcast is scheduled for 3pm UK time tomorrow, Friday, 26th February.

From the logos, the games may centre around the sun and moon Pokémon Solrock and Lunaton - perhaps new Mega forms of either?

The announcement of two new titles mirrors the arrival of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 in the latter years of the DS' lifespan, instead of the following the earlier tradition of releasing a third game in a generation such as with Red, Blue, and then Yellow.

A new Pokémon game would also make sense given the recent reveal of a mysterious new Pokémon - suggesting the next generation of new Pokémon critters was on the horizon.
