Halo: The Master Chief Collection gets big new patch later this summer
Intelligent Install! Xbox One X enhancements! More!
The long road to recovery continues for The Master Chief Collection - three-and-a-half years after the game came out.
In a post on Halo Waypoint, developer 343 Industries said the game's first official update since it announced the renewed effort to improve the state of the Master Chief Collection should come out later this summer.
343 also revealed the features it's prioritising for the first retail update:
- Intelligent Install
- Xbox One X Visual Enhancements
- HDR/SDR Calibration Settings
- Networking and Matchmaking Improvements (Continuous Matchmaking, Network/Multiplayer API updates)
- P1 & P2 Bug Fixes
- LAN Support
- UI & UX Updates (Main Menu, Title Screen Video, Button States/Highlight States)
Much of this is self explanatory. The enhancements for Xbox One X will be of particular interest to owners of that console. And the networking and matchmaking improvements will be welcome to all given Master Chief Collection's disastrous launch revolved around problems associated with online play.
It's great to see 343 isn't yet done with Master Chief Collection, despite the game's age. And the timing of this patch could go down well with Halo fans, especially if Microsoft has a Halo-related announcement set for E3 in June.
