It looks like Taiko no Tatsujin on Switch is coming westwards
Beat the drum.
Taiko no Tatsujin, Bandai Namco's outstanding rhythm action game, is coming to the Switch on July 19th in Japan. That's soon! But it also looks like we'll be getting a western release, or at the very least an announcement of one, with the game popping up on the Australian classification board recently.
We already know that an English language version is coming on August 9th - and it's coming via a free patch, too, which should have you covered should you decide to import the Japanese release or buy it via the Japanese eShop - but a proper western release would make the whole process that little bit easier. Now, about getting those drum controllers released over here too... I've sent a begging email to Bandai Namco in Europe for a little clarity on the story, and to impolitely request the drum peripheral makes the journey too, and I'll keep you updated should I get a reply.
As to why it's all so exciting? Well, the Taiko no Tatsujin series has been a mainstay of Japanese arcades since 2001, a drum-based rhythm action game that's deliciously upbeat, and it looks like a perfect match for Nintendo's Switch - and not just because the Switch version will feature songs from Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2.
