Final Fantasy 12 coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019
UPDATE: Past series entries also due on Xbox One.
UPDATE 14/9/18: Looks like it's not just Switch that'll be drowning in Final Fantasy games by the end of 2019; Microsoft has revealed that a whole host of series instalments are also heading to Xbox One over the next 12 months.
According to a post on Xbox Wire, Xbox One will be receiving the same line-up of past Final Fantasy games announced for Switch during yesterday's Nintendo Direct. Alongside Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition, which is available now, Final Fantasy 7, 9, 10, 10-2, and 12 (in its Zodiac guise) are all scheduled to arrive in 2019. Still no sign of Final Fantasy 8 though!
ORIGINAL STORY 13/9/18: Nintendo has announced a raft of Final Fantasy games are coming to Switch in 2019.
The headline is Final Fantasy 12, which arrives on Nintendo Switch in Zodiac Age form.
But Final Fantasy 7, 9, 10 and 10-2 are also coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019 - the first time these games will have appeared on a Nintendo console. There was no mention of Final Fantasy 8, for some reason.
Elsewhere, Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD hits Nintendo Switch imminently. There's a Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered game also coming to Switch.
Here's the official blurb:
"High-definition versions of some of the most beloved Final Fantasy games of all time are coming to Nintendo Switch. This includes Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 10-2. This is the first time any of these Final Fantasy games have been released on a Nintendo console.
"In addition, Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD will soon be available to download in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch, and three other games in the Final Fantasy universe will launch on Nintendo Switch in the near future: The levelled-up edition of World of Final Fantasy Maxima launches on 6th November, Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon EVERY BUDDY! launches this winter, and Nintendo GameCube co-op game Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition with online multiplayer and no need for a link cable comes to Nintendo Switch in 2019."
