Ubisoft to terminate online services for Just Dance 2018 on last-gen consoles
I Am Alive, Tom Clancy's EndWar, Splinter Cell Double Agent, Assassin's Creed 2, and Rayman 3 are also affected.
Ubisoft is terminating online services for Just Dance games on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and Wii U on 19th November 2018.
Online support of I Am Alive, Tom Clancy's EndWar, and Splinter Cell Double Agent on PC will also terminate on 19th November, along with Assassin's Creed 2 on Mac, and Rayman 3 HD on PS3 and Xbox 360.
Although the developer announced at E3 that it is still supporting last-gen consoles by bringing Just Dance 2019 - which releases later this week - to both Wii and Wii U as well as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, online functionality for Just Dance 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014 will cease.
Online services for Just Dance 2015 and 2014 will also be terminated for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
"We are constantly assessing what's needed to deliver the best possible online services for Ubisoft's customers," explained Ubisoft (thanks, Nintendo Life). "Shutting the services for some older games with smaller online audiences is a necessary part of this process, since it allows our IT and service staff to better focus on delivering great online experiences to the vast majority of customers who are playing newer, more popular titles.
"Still, we don't take the decision to retire services for older Ubisoft games lightly, and we understand some of you may be disappointed by this news.
"We are happy to have fans that are as committed as you have been to these brands and titles, and we hope that you'll find more recent or upcoming Ubisoft games which you can be equally as passionate about. Thank you for your understanding and your support."
Players are advised to use any unused in-game currency as soon as possible, as Ubisoft will not be issuing refunds.
Singleplayer activities will not be affected, but there will be no more in-game news update, stat-sharing, or Uplay connectivity, and any rewards unlocked after closure will not be received.
